LORE a nature-loving wanderer who will gladly join in on any nice-seeming rando's journey bc being alone makes him anxious. if lacking a human companion, he's mostly fine just having some other living organism(s) to care for and talk to. years ago, botanist loulo and his 4 y/o niece liloulou found baby florin in a hollowed out tree near some flowers. he'd drooled all over the note attached to him – leaving only a few letters of his original name legible. loulo and his fisher wife falili raised florin and lilou, with many in the village also acting as extended family. as a result of growing up surrounded mostly by lalas, florin tends to unconsciously try to appear smaller than he is. the only times he doesn't do this are when he's alone, or when he's dancing. florin had a relatively happy childhood, anxieties aside. he often hung out with his sister and her brainy best friend, pomeline poma. pomeline, being the oldest of the group, was not the leader — that was lilou — but was the authority. because pomeline was extremely studious (particularly when it came to gridanian legends and history but she devoured knowledge in general) and well-spoken, everyone listened to her most of the time. florin especially. pomeline taught her friends very interesting yet useless-from-a-practical-standpoint factoids and folktales she’d read about, and it spurred their sense of wonder and adventure. one time, when she was trying to read and her friends were being too noisy, she threw a pebble at lhu’to to stop his singing. when asked why she did that, pomeline, who was reading a tome on gridanian traditions, lied, “according to this it’s a traditional gridanian greeting.” they all believed her, and so began /throw. it was around age 8 that florin happened upon lhu'to pikholo (who would later go by lute penrose) when the keeper boy, having tried and failed to catch an orobon on his own, sat on a stump and blew a grass flute. florin complimented his playing, which startled lhu'to, who wasn't used to getting praised, and he ran away. the next time florin encountered lhu'to, he was with lilou, and she helped break the ice a little more. after a few "chance" meetings (lhu'to was purposefully in the area when he thought florin and co would be), lhu'to became part of the friend group. as they grew closer, lhu’to would often play music or sing for florin, who would dance to it. when they were teenagers, florin and lhu'to were each other's Firsts. his sister got him and their friends into adventuring, but they would go their separate ways a couple years prior to ARR, when lhu’to announced his intention to become a famous bard, and pomeline sought out more scholarly pursuits. a year after this, lilou went to ul’dah for a year to learn mining as a means to aid her as an “”””archaeologist”””” (treasure hunter). florin, lonely, threw himself into odd jobs around his village and south shroud. when he one day got a letter from his sister saying she and pomeline were in limsa lominsa, loulo encouraged his desire to go find them and see the world. florin's chocobo, trout, was gifted to him by his adoptive parents before he set out on his adventure. florin named her. (cue ARR) APPEARANCE a lanky young man with a calming air about him whose height is the only thing that could possibly be intimidating...not that he ever stands at his full height to begin with. he keeps his green hair long and usually tied back in a ponytail or braid. florin emotes p normally, but is more chill than energetic as a result of trying to keep up with/wrangle in his brave big sister. he typically has a smile on his face. his skin has less of a pale tone than is typical of duskwights due to the fact that he's basically lived outdoors his whole life as opposed to underground/in a cave/indoors in general. has a very flowy (comfortable), forest-dweller vibe in terms of personal style. favorite colors are green and yellow, followed by purple.
